No, Ann, I didn't mean my response to imply that I thought your comments
were offensive.  Certainly we do want to let moms know that it is
possible to nurse without "letting it all hang out".  In my class I show
pictures of moms nursing in ways that only another nursing mother would
recognize.  I was playing devil's advocate to some extent and pointing
out that we don't want to make it look like "discretely" is the only way
it's OK to nurse in public or to imply that "non-discrete" public
nursing is wrong.  It all reflects not only mom's comfort level, but to
a large extent the attitude of society.  No individual mom should be
made to feel responsible for changing societies attitudes, but we do
need to recognize the extent to which our attitudes are shaped by them.
