Has anyone,esp. childbirth educators,seen the video "Home Before You =
know IT"?

The film is 30 min long and has the most pictures of moms =
breastfeeding,with dads beside them than I've ever seen.
It's content covers self-care info.for the immediate postpartum and =
referral info. e.g. for depression,signs and symptoms to report
to HCP,etc.

The section on BF,however,is very limited and the disclaimer is that =
there is not enough space/too much info.to cover in the video...
so the BF info.mainly covers s/s mastitis,engorgement  (could be viewed =
as negative aspects,depending on one's perspective.)

Then,the transition to ASBM(artificially synthesized baby Milk) is =
headed with the statement *By now you know that we view BF as the best =
source of infant nutrition* (not a direct quote,sorry).  And it =
continues:*...formula is also an excellent choice...*(again,not a direct
quote) *we recognize that many women choose not to breastfeed for =
personal reasons....
And the next picture is dad and baby,no mom in sight(I guess this is a =
sharp marketing strategy,hmmm)and a long discourse on=20
preparation,cleaning,burping for ASBM.

Personally,I object to the word "excellent" being anywhere near the word =
HM.Thought I'd pass this along.
I can't remember if antibodies are mentioned as benefit and how many =
benefits are mentioned for HM,but I think it wasn't enough.
Of course,some is never enough because of the thousands of benefits.
I think an excellent benefit parents should be informed about is that it =
enhances the response to immunizations...( i know that the "I" word is =
controversial so i'll leave it at that,especially since I know 2 people =
who BF exclusively whose kids had significant rxns.)
