I am back on the listserv after an absence of several months. I am a nurse
on a rural reservation working for a diabetes program promoting
breastfeeding as primary prevention of diabetes. We have peer counselors
and one of them has a question she has requested I research for her. I
have not had any luck with the archives, Lawrence, and my other
breastfeeding books. I realize a long holiday (in the US) weekend is
starting so expect I may not hear any response till next week, if any of
you have any ideas for me.

This mom has a six month old exclusively breastfed baby who keeps getting
impetigo infections. One will clear up and within a few dats to a week or
so another will start. Since most of the infections start around baby's
mouth, mom is wondering if she could be harboring the organism in her
breasts. She has no lesions on her nipples or elsewhere and has no pain in
her nipples or breasts. Mom doubts that it is breastfeeding related but
she was wondering if any of you wise ones have heard of this happening or
if you think it is even possible.

I will likely be mainly lurking till after the exam.
