Saw a client today that said that when her baby was 4 months old, the Navy
made her get a typhoid shot as she was going back on a ship. She stated
that the nurse told her it could possibly dry up her milk, but that she had
no choice and had to get the shot. Well, sure enough, mom claims her milk
dried up less then 1 week later. Baby is now almost 9 months, and mom is
now trying to relactate. I am wondering if anyone has heard about this
shot drying up the milk, and how commen is it? Since I work with many
military clients that MUST have this shot (according to thier command), I
would like to get info on this. I searched the archives, and only found
one post (by Dr. Jack) that said it was ok to nurse after getting this
shot, but nothing about it drying up the milk.
Thank you,
