Thank you, Dr. Newman for your opinion of the foremilk and
hindmilk discussion.  Not being an IBCLC, that whole topic got to me.

While I breastfed for a month shy of 2 years, I alternated the breast
I offered when it got comfortable.  I never could have just given one
breast at each session as I would have been lopsided and heavy sided.

I tried it at first and hated it.  My daughters stimulated multiple
letdowns and the unfed side got hard as a rock, plus it got stretch
marks.  So I fed with the first breast until it felt pretty soft and
let the baby nurse all it wished on the second side.  I alternated
with the next feeding.  I just felt each side with my hands and knew
to give the harder one first.

Most evenings I gave side 1, then side 2, 3, 4 5 6 7 & 8.  That is what
each baby wanted to do and I obliged.  Worked well for us.

By the way, I wished to ask if most mothers could go right back to sleep
after breastfeeding at night.  I never could.  After each session of
breastfeeding letdowns I also had to use the toilet to void urine.
I have never heard anyone else mention this aspect.
