I found the page in my UCLA educator course notebook that states the Imagine
quote came from the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Brochure from UNICEF. I
don't have one here at home to check. Also in regards to the amount for
mother to drink issue - I believe we are referring to the Dusdieker study
from Pediatrics 1985 "Effects of supplemental fluids on human milk
production" which found that mothers who drank fluids past the point of
satisfying thirst did not produce more milk. In my mind, the term "drink to
thirst" is misleading; I prefer to say "drink to satisfy your thirst, eat to
satisfy your appetite". In my mind, drink to thirst sounds like "drink till
you're thirsty." Just my .02 worth.
