> The other problem I have about his study is that the mothers and bbies were
brought in once a month or every two months and had to give a dietary recall. How
many times we ate fish each week, etc. I can't remember what I had for lunch
today, so my recall was pretty suspicious.

We now know that diet doen't have short term effect on the amount of dioxins and
PCB's in breastmilk. It is the longlife exposre that makes the pollution. However,
vegetarian women does have lower dioxin levels in their milk, but not if she
started this diet not so long ago. I recall she should be a vegatarian for at
least 2 years before the difference can be seen in the dioxin level in het milk.

In Dutch women meat and fish and dairy products contribute most to the total
dioxin exposure. However, in Dutch toddlers, it is also the chips and cookies that
contribute a lot to the exposure. (in this article called 'processed food'). And
breastmilk

See: http://ehpnet1.niehs.nih.gov/docs/1999/107p45-51patandin/abstract.html

"Breast-feeding for 6 months contributed to the cumulative PCB/dioxin TEQ intake
until 25 years of age, 12% in boys and 14% in girls. The daily TEQ intake per
kilogram body weight is 50 times higher in breast-fed infants and three times
higher in toddlers than in adults. "

Note that in this same research project the researchers found the breastfed
children scored better on several tests, despite the high dioxin levels.
