The Christchurch City Mission is calling for donations for Cantabrians "in
great need'' following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake on September 4. 

Cash donations and  non-perishable food are needed to provide assistance to
local people.
 
Christchurch City Missioner, Michael Gorman said that "many Canterbury
residents are in great need during this difficult time so we encourage
anyone who is able to donate to get behind this much needed appeal''. 

"We are in desperate need of all non-perishable foods such as rice, pasta,
pasta sauces, soup, canned vegetables and fruit and baby food. We need any
nappies people can spare as well as baby formula and all toiletries such as
toothbrushes, toothpaste, toilet paper and deodorants."
