No, I haven't heard any mention of breast milk for these little babies, but
I have to confess that, judging from what I've heard of the mother's
condition, I'm thinking that probably expressing milk is pretty low on her
list of priorities right now. Sounds like she had emergency surgery "for
heavy bleeding" during the night, was on a ventilator, & was in "critical"
condition; now, my OB experience is leading me to picture a mom in pretty
bad shape here, probably coping with an emergency hysterectomy (just a
guess!) as well as the C/S, probably severely anemic at this point, possibly
with severe heart-lung complications secondary to all she's been through. I,
for one, would not fault anyone in this situation for not making a priority
of expressing her milk. (Actually, I'd like to know if she is producing
any - this sounds like one of those drastic scenarios that could actually
interfere pretty dramatically with milk production.) Damn me for being
insufficiently zealous! (Actually, of course, I do share your hope that
these tiny little ones will get breastmilk - maybe banked, if not mom's.)
