Dr. Lawrence and the University of Rochester actually did us BF advocates a
huge favor with this article. Their literature review was very thorough.
This is the first research article that I've read which thoroughly debunks a
common dental opinion to "wean at a year or your kid's teeth will rot." (my
snappy summary of the concept.) 

 

The abstract to this research paper is freely downloadable from Pediatrics.
It's worth a trip to your nearest medical library to read the entire paper.
Or pay to download and read the individual article (instructions are on the
web site). Ignore the news media, which seems to be more interested in
selling newspapers (or ads, or air time) than accurately reporting the truth
about breastfeeding. 

 

While you're doing yourself a favor, get a copy of the new 6th edition of
Dr. Lawrence's excellent text "Breastfeeding, a Guide for the Medical
Profession," which contains all 12 of the ABM protocols. I have no financial
