Get as much milk into the baby straight from the source, fresh and potent as possible, to reduce the pressure off the pumping. For the long term picture, focusing on the baby loving the breast as the real deal -- the pump and the slow-paced bottle are just tools for the modern world. With a sleepy nursing in bed in the early am, and another feed right before parting company, she leaves the baby tanked up, and caregivers aren't tapping the pumped milk immediately. The baby doesn't have a bottle too close to her arrival home, so the mother can lay down and feed for twenty minutes, to reunite with the baby, chat with the toddler, and get a little rest. And maybe the baby will be peaceful while she has her dinner, already made (crockpot, useful partner, weekend cooking).
