An intervention would be a change in feeding practices, based on an ASSESSMENT. Weighing is an ASSESSMENT. The interventions that one might implement based on an assessment may be appropriate or inappropriate. Some ASSESSMENTS can be highly invasive -- such as taking a venous blood sample, some can be less invasive, such as observing a mother feed. ASSESSMENTS can be interpreted positively or negatively by the person being assessed. Weighing alone will never fix or damage feeding -- it is the actions taken by the interpretation of the weighing that can enhance or impede feeding.

Best regards, Susan Burger
