Dear Loni, this has been discussed before.
I posted about Jan DeCoopman's BREASTS Sat, 6 Sep 1997.
Chris Mulford posted Sun, 7 Sep 1997 about IBFAT
Chris also has MBA in J Hum Lact 8(2), 1992, p.79-82.
Linda Shrago and Debi Bocar promote Systematic Assessment of Infant at the
Breast with 4 A's (also written up in Breastfeeding Abstracts 9(1) August
1989).
Marsha Walker covered this extensively in Birth 16:3, Sept 1989, p.
140-147.
Maternal Perceptions discussed in J.Hum Lact 10(2), 1994, p. 99-104,
Dr. Neifert in Contemporary Pediatrics, Oct. 1996, 13(10) p. 142-166.
JOGNN March/April 1997, 26(2), p. 181-187 discusses 3 tools,
JOGNN Jan 1994, 23(1) p. 27-32 is LATCH source
Pat Van Bonn did a nice one for U of MI based on BREAST(1991). This one is
for mothers.

If ANY one of these had been used in the 20/20 case that baby would not
have died. Note the dates. This info has been around long enough for
perinatal people to know and use it! I still feel the blame lies with the
dr and hospital (for not providing mother with basic, vital info regard
input/output) and NY Medicaid (for lack of follow-up.) The prosecutor is
prosecuting the wrong person! But I think mom has excellent grounds for
wrongful death suits!!!

Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
