RESEARCH:
Physiological weight loss in the neonate: a systematic review
By Joy Noel-Weiss*, Genevieve Courant, A. Kirsten Woodend*
*University of Ottawa
Expert opinions and guidelines disagree about what constitutes a normal
neonatal weight loss. How much weight loss should be considered a red flag?
What is the upper limit that indicates that intervention, such as
supplementation, is required? This systematic review seeks to answer the
question: "What is a normal physiological weight loss for full-term
exclusively breast-fed infants in the first 2 weeks after birth?" To view
the results, please visit: <www.openmedicine.ca>
