My lady with extreme engorement that I was seeing last week, now
has the worst case thrush I have ever seen. Her baby also has oral
and diaper thrush and Mums nipples and areolas are bright pink,
shiny and white spots evident on the right breast. She is in agony
and has weaned the baby because she couldn't even express by
hand or pump. Anyway, she has been taking an antifungal since
Friday and is still in pain, deep breast pain. She is applying
Daktarin gel to her nipples, treating the baby, doing all the
sterilization (albeit Milton Kathleen). She says that the cream is
burning her nipples and that the antifungals orally are not relieving
the symtoms at all so far. We can't use GV where I live and the
doctor says Fluconazole is too expensive so she is on a 2 week
course of Nilstat orally. My husband, who is a GP believes that
Nilstat is not well absorbed and that is why the symptoms are not
going away. What do we do.?
