Have searched the archives with no success although I know there was some
discussion on this a while back. Please post response asap if you have any
references or research to share. A mom called me today -- I had worked with
her after her last child was born -- he is now 5 months old and thriving,
just started solids after exclusive BF. Anyway, her 28 yrold husband was
diagnosed this week with acute Crohn's Disease and is very ill. A friend
had told her she remembered seeing something about breastmilk being used for
various cancer pts, transplant recipients, etc. and this mom wondered if it
could be used to alleviate Crohn's symptoms. Her husband is receptive and
she is willing to pump and provide as much as she is able. The question
is -- how much should he take, how often, will freezing the milk affect its
efficacy,etc.etc.etc.? If anyone can remember any sources or point me in
the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
