In response to Theresa's question about whether this is herpes zoster or
simplex, at this point the mother informed me that the MD made the diagnosis
of herpes simplex.  They did draw blood, but the tests aren't back yet to
confirm.  She will be talking with them on Monday and I did suggest she find
out how the diagnosis was made.  I agree that it did sound more like chicken
pox based on the locations of the lesions.  I have not seen either the mom
or the toddler.
