I once had a mom breastfeed twins exclusively for four months with
just one functioning breast. (As a teen, she had been burned
extensively with third degree burns and one breast had been burned
severely, and never made milk with any of her four children).
She had no trouble making enough milk, the trouble was timing of
feedings. Often they weren't hungry at the same time, which was a
help. When they were, she tried to rotate which twin ate first, and
would feed one for a while, (often the one being the most cranky), and
then switch them off. This mom had some help, (although she could have
used more). At about four months, she began supplementing, not because
she didn't have enough milk, but she just felt exhausted. She
commented to me that she would have nursed exclusively longer if she
could have fed them both at the same time. It's worth mentioning that
she also had a very active toddler during the twin's infancy.

Yes it can be done, yes its tiring and a lot of work. The key thing
here is excellent maternal support. She *will* spend more time feeding
babies, and have less time to actually do anything else.
