Dear Colleagues,
I learned from the NYT's email acknowledgment of my letter that the letters
we send them "must be exclusive to The Times (no prior submission to, or
publication in, any other medium, including the Web)." Well, technically, I
sent my letter to the Times FIRST, and only after that, to Lactnet, so I
hope they will still consider it.  Please erase from your memory the fact
that I ever sent it to Lactnet while we wait to see whether it will be
published.
