Hi All,
How about one more "I Heard that..."?
Now I haven't heard that mixing EBM and ABM together has any effect on the
EBM. Working moms that I work with are routinely told, by me, that any BF is
better than none, and if she needs to give ABM during the day, then BF at
night. That way the baby still gets the benefits of mama milk!
Now the one that I "heard" was this:
When EBM and ABM are mixed, the ABM larger molecules attatch themselves to
the smaller EBM molecules which then take the ABM to the outside of the
stomach lining causing more gassiness and discomfort for the baby, (Because
the ABM is a foriegn particle and not absorbed by the body, like breastmilk,
therefore causing pain and discomfort).
Any real truth to this? I have talked to many a mom who has gone from mixing
their EBM to giving only a bottle of straight ABM or EBM because they noticed
(without any info from me) that when they mixed the two, their baby was not
a happy baby after too long.

Jay
Always curious, in Sacramento!
