If it looks like eczema, it may BE eczema.

I have seen several moms with recurrent thrush-like symptoms respond to a 
treatment of gentian violet as usual, followed by APNO for at least 3 
weeks...if she is well at that point, I will have her try a 1% 
over-the-counter hydrocortisone ointment (not cream) to control symptoms. 
Clues are if mom has had eczema diagnosed elsewhere on her body at any time, 
or if it really seems to flare up as soon as she stops the APNO. (which 
contains a steroid)  True yeast recurrence tends to be very gradual.

It is a well-known fact in dermatologic circles that yeast and eczema often 
coexist...the cracks in the skin from eczema give the yeast a place to grow, 
and the yeast causes the body to react with the inflammation of eczema. 
Rarely they need a stronger steroid, but I think I have only needed that in 
a lady with psoriasis.
