There was an interesting and informative discussion on this at our last
meeting, which included the topic of summer travel... There are pictures
in Dr. Sears's The Baby Book to help, but a lot of mother-to-mother
ideas were added: pillows placed strategically, even what to look for in
a car-seat and yes, it is much harder when they are forward-facing! We
call this the Drive-Thru position. I would add, though, that stopping
every hour or two is not bad, once you get used to it (we did during
several 1000 mile trips) and is good for the driver, who can buy / have
a cold drink during the nursing break, so that the nursing mother can
drink and sleep while he drives.
