<I have recently gotten a question about thrush treatment by a lady who is
bf
9 mo twins & lives in France. The babies were treated 2 months ago
with"Daktarin 2%" (miconazole), Three times a day. The doc refused to treat
the mother. They babies now have thrush again and she is wondering if she
should take the same medication or if there is a different one. >
Jessica,
It sounds like the babies have oral thrush and the mother is asymptomatic.
Is this right? Daktarin is probably the oral gel, and should be given four
times a day, after feeds and should be continued for a week after any signs
of thrush have gone. I wouldn't be treating the mother if she has no pain.
If her nipples are sore, the first line of treatment is the same gel on the
nipples (before bringing out the fluconazole).
