I'm going to try to contain myself here. "Candidiasis" is a medical
diagnosis, and it appears to me that people doing the 'diagnosis' here
aren't MDs. Call me old-fashioned, but since I don't have a license to
practice medicine, I don't offer medical diagnoses. Period.
Having talked with people all over the country who are involved in
breastfeeding, it seems to me that Candidiasis is both over-diagnosed and
under-diagnosed, by MDs and non-MDs. This is why a *full* assessment is
critical for any breastfeeding baby. No--make that *any* baby!
I'm trying not to go off the deep end with my opinions here.....I get so
fired up about this....
I recently published a 48-page piece on sore nipples; e-mail me privately
if you're interested, but it does address the problem of anatomical
problems, such as you're describing, as a major contributor to sore
nipples. (It also carries CERPs, con eds, etc.)
