Alicia,
I would tend to look at this NOT as a protective effect of pacifier use,
but as an early warning that something was not right with the SIDS
babies the night before they died...perhaps they fell asleep quickly
because they were in an autonomic regulation crisis, or were in too much
respiratory distress to suck the pacifier.
