Hello All:

Recently joined, first time posting!

A client is hoping to get some info about the following & I'm posting with
her permission.

She writes: "A few days ago, I got a clogged duct. Unfortunately, it was
exactly beneath a funny looking mole that I've had my eye on (it grew and
became darker during pregnancy). The mole is directly above my nipple. I
thought the pain from the duct was coming from the mole, so I called my
dermatologist (the clogged duct is fine now after some hot showers and
massage). He wants to remove the mole, because it changed size & color, and
melanoma runs in my family. I am kicking myself for going to see him at all
because I figured he would say something like this. To make things worse,
its not cut and dry. The mole has no earmarks for cancer, other than
changing size and color (it got darker)-- other than that it looks normal.
But my doctor says the only way to be 100 percent sure is to cut it off and
biopsy it but says I would have to stop breastfeeding. Obviously, I don't
want to do this, and would rather wait. What would you do?"

I can't imagine why the doctor believes that she would have to stop
nursing-- she didn't get a reason from him and can't reach him now.

Any very specific information I can give her?

Thanks in advance!,
Meema
