A note of thanks for those of you who have posted and e mailed me about the
little babe I'm working with that has the cardiac condition.  Baby now is 4
weeks old.  Has been home from the hosp 2 weeks now.  Baby is very sleepy,
 sleeps through almost all of his feeds, receiving emb via ng tube, approx
2/3 of his intake  and abm for the remainder.  Still will not suck. Max
intake  by mouth 30cc twice a day inconsistantly via bottle.  Unable to
progress to finger feeds as of this date.  Mom wants the ng tube out, feels
it's inhibiting baby's suck.  I have suggested an OT, ped has requested via
their HMO...I think this may take some time for approval...Mom is
concerned/frustrated about decreasing milk supply.  Is relunctant to use any
herbs due to lasix, ASA baby is on and their interactions.   Ped is
supportive of herbs, but prefers documentation as to their effectiveness/drug
interactions .  This is a tough one! I'll keep you posted.   As always,
creative ideas are always welcomed!
