Dear all:

My mother is no longer around to reconfirm this, but I do remember her te=
lling me that I=20
was fed Karo syrup and evaporated milk. Its about as good an excuse for =
any of my=20
failings that I can come up with!

Best, Susan Burger

Loved that one Susan!
Since it was quite unfashionable to breastfeed in the early 50's in the
Detroit area at least, my mother told everyone she fed me Pet Milk. It wasn't too
far a stretch - her maiden name was "Pett". Both my brother and I were
breastfed for 3 - 4 months until my mother's doctor decided she was losing too
much weight so she should wean us. Then we got the wonderful concoction of Karo
syrup and canned Pet Milk. Wish he'd thought to have her eat more, maybe
these allergies wouldn't have been so miserable my whole life!
Back to lurkdom,
