Hello Louanne...Like the others who have responded, I truly feel for this mother. How about emailing/calling a couple of the top Peds Endocrinology Institutions and see if they have an IBCLC on staff? I would suggest Stoney Brook in NY, Boston Children's and University of Michigan. I worked with a mother and her 2nd NB three years after having her first diagnosed at 18 months with Type I. Her MD told her to stop breastfeeding when her son was diagnosed, so she did, never questioning it. I am glad that this mother has you and is proactive in her babe's care! Good luck and keep us posted.
