Laurie, you're a genius - that's it!! To the OP - Do you have the option
of getting good-quality digital photos of the nipple problem, and would
mom consent to them being passed on? I'm a member of an on-line medical
forum (accessible by qualified drs only) where it would be possible to
post them for further advice from dermatologists. Can't guarantee
anything as it all comes down to who happens to be reading and feels
like posting an answer - but it is a HUGE forum and my experience has
been that, in practice, there's nearly always someone who will offer
some good advice.

(Hopefully, she's now found a good bf-friendly dermatologist and it's
all a moot point. But thought would make offer available in case this
isn't the case.)

If you do take me up on this, please could you let me have as much info
as possible about when this started, whether it's changed as time went
on, and names/doses/courses of treatments tried so far and any effect
they had, as all this will be helpful. It's not clear from the post
whether she's been treated for the presumed bacterial infection - was she?

Best wishes,

Dr Sarah Vaughan
