Oh Denise,

How can those nurses decide that this mum should not have the opportunity to
breastfeed her baby or to pump off milk? I am saddened and appalled that they
should weald such power over a vulnerable mother and her very very vulnerable
precious newborn child. Do they think that because a newborn does not go to
the breast the mother makes no milk and does not get engorged? They have
become hard and course, it is almost as if this baby's and mother's life
together has become cheapened and not worth bothering about because the baby
will not live for long - so sad, so sad. I do so hope that you can have time
with this mother to explore her wishes, she should not be denied them by
anyone - you can be her *champion*.

kindest regards, Helen Woodman, NCT Breastfeeding Counsellor, UK
