Yup.  I guess I just cringe when I hear ppl say "finger feed him so that he
doesn't get nipple confused".

if he's not nursing, he needs to be fed somehow, true....but I think it's
important to know what the risks and bennies of a particular form of feeding
are.  It's very common to hear that finger-feeding doesn't cause the same
problems as bottle feeding b/c it's "not an artificial nipple".

Also, I guess when i was writing the initial post, I was imagining a scenario
in which a baby was nursing well at the breast but was still very young (ie
days old) being supplemented for whatever reason.  In those cases, I'd prefer
to see supplements going via 1)SNS 2) cup, spoon, dropper...
