Hear hear!!  Which is why it is important for LC wannabes to work with an
experienced IBCLC for a period of time -- or even several of them.  I think
that using a planned guide (such as Clinical Experience in Lactation:  A
Blueprint for Internship) is very helpful as it helps the LC intern figure
out just what experiences she needs and guides her through all sorts of them
-- hospital, WIC clinic, peds office, L&D, postpartum, NICU, outpatient
facility, and so on.

I realize it is pie in the sky for IBLCE to require something like that of
all candidates, but -- hey -- we can dream, can't we??
