This is in reference to Carol Brussel's comments about hospitals "scheduling
baby's
feeds in one way or another." I'm wondering what the purpose is of dissing
hospitals
and hospital LCs (of which I am one, obviously). This is far from the first
time I've
read comments like this on Lactnet. The most bothersime comments to me are
the ones directly about hospital LCs, e.g. a couple of weeks ago: "it was
probably a hospital LC who sent her out the door with a nipple shield with no
help available on the weekend for followup." Yet I seldom see negative
comments about private LCs,
which I'm pleased about. Since we all use Lactnet I would like to request
respecting one another and not making generalizations about people or
hospitals that may not fit your particular impressions of them. Many
hospitals, in Oregon at least, have very good and supportive lactation
services (both for in and outpatients) and free in the case of the hospital
system I work in. Probably the main problem is we could all use more staff.
I'm very appreciative that Lactnet exists and that for the most part it is
used for problem solving and sharing our experiences and knowledge. I think
we can be kind to one another too!
