I've used 1/2 strength hydrogen peroxide for cracks that just don't heal. I
suggest the mom uses it 2-3 times/day. I also caution that if it seems to be
too drying then use 1-2 times/day and add anyone of the above mentioned creams
etc.

One of my colleague's has used gentamicin ointment for cracks that appear
infected. Rational for use I believe is that gentamicin is destroyed in the
gut of the infant. Usually route for treatment is IM or IV. Please any
pharmacist comment on this.
