This position was recently mentioned and I thought I'd ask what others
think of it. Personally I don't like it at all and don't use it. Reasons
being that it is only suitable for using when the mother has somewhere to
lie down to feed (and doesn't need to supervise other children while
feeding), is MESSY - doesn't stop the milk coming out just as fast, now the
excess runs back down the breast and onto the chest, is uncomfortable for
the baby (feeding lying on his tummy, face down); and doesn't allow the
breast to drain well, difficult to massage lumps to clear them, etc.

For oversupply I much prefer the straddle position for the baby (sitting),
and either stimulating a milk ejection before putting baby to the breast,
or taking the willing baby off the breast as soon as the milk ejection
starts if he can't handle it in the sitting position. Not all mothers with
oversupply have fast milk ejections of course, but it is these two
conditions going together that seem to cause the problem, not just one or
the other.
