My question is why circumcision is performed on these young babies
before breastfeeding is established if there is information available to
the public that suggests that it can interfere with bonding, proper feeding
techniques, and it can be performed at a later date after breastfeeding has
been established.
i forgot to say also what does 'there is information available to the public'
really mean? i don't really work in a medicalized aspect of bfing, so i am
pretty much just a member of 'the public' the 1st and only time i have heard
that circing can interfere w/ bfing has been here on lactnet. and i am a very
well-read mom who owns all the recommended books on bfing! i think if this info
really WERE more readily available to the public, just maybe more ppl would
reconsider doing it at all or at least doing it so soon. then again, if they
weren't especially invested in bfing, i suppose it wouldn't make much difference
to them. not saying they should or shouldn't, just remarking in this area it's
a little known piece of information!
