I wish I could remember where I picked up the following information. I
only know it was before I took my IBCLC exam, so maybe 3 years back.
Goes something like this: We know there are properties in breastmilk
that make is easy to pass thru the baby's intestinal wall and into the
bloodstream in a short time(Hence the faster emptying time) If formula
is mixed with the breastmilk, it allows it also to pass thru quickly,
thus setting up a possible increased chance of cow's milk allergy later
in life. Therefore, it is better if you don't have a full supply, to
pump and save until you have enough for a full breastmilk feeding, and
use the formula as you must until that time. Has anyone else heard
this, and is it "all wet"?
