I am looking for clarification on Hales information pertaining to iodine
131 . He states the need to wean prior to the use of this by several
days to weeks. The reason is the accumulation causing an increased risk
of breast cancer for the woman. Would this be avoided by pumping on a
regular basis or would the risk still be increased? How much pumping
would be enough? Is there even any research one wy or another?

I have been wondering what impact milk production has in all of this
partly because a woman who "weans" several days prior to the test will
still be producing milk. Is she at risk? A few weeks is also somewhat
vague, are we trying to achieve NO milk? Or simply get past full
production?

I have a mom with a 7 week old facing some difficult decisions, she
would appreciate all the input she can get.

Thanks,

Victoria Fisher
