I just realized that I did not properly introduce myself when I first
signed onto Lactnet several months ago in conjunction w/ Jan Riordan's
Internet course. I'm a registered dietitian who is currently staying
home w/ my nurslings, Hope (almost 3 years) and Ian (almost 5 months).
Although my dietetics background is more in marketing and management, my
personal passion for breastfeeding has naturally turned the corner and
become a professional interest. I have been teaching some breastfeeding
classes for a Bradley teacher in the Wichita, KS area and have just
started the LLL Leader Applicant process. When the time is right, I
hope to add IBCLC to my credentials.

I realize I'm asking a personal question here, but I got depressed
searching the archives regarding breast biopsies (more outcomes were
malignant than I wanted to hear at this still-waiting-for-results
juncture). How long does breastmilk typically contain blood following a
needle biopsy with multiple "sticks"? Does it change the flavor of the
milk significantly? I had the biopsy April 24 and now my littlest one
is spitting up bloody milk when he usually doesn't spit up. Although I
feel comfortable that the blood is not harmful to him, would it be
better to pump and dump assuming the taste is different enough for him
or is it simply a laundry problem w/ the spitting related to my higher
mental stress level? My 3-year old said the milk tastes just fine...

A refreshing side note...I was pleasantly surprised by the surgeon who
said many times during our visit that he didn't want to disrupt the
breastfeeding relationship and let me know that his wife had breastfed
their firstborn past 2 years :). You may e-mail me privately or post to
the group. TIA. mailto:[log in to unmask]
