about a year ago, I became friends with the mother of 4-yr-old boy from harrison's class and his 7-yr-old sister from sean's class, and was over their house for the first time. 
    when she checked her mail, there was a box containing 2 large cans of powdered similac and many coupons.
    I approached the subject carefully, not knowing yet whether she had recently experienced a pregnancy loss or death of a child. she laughed and told me that no, no babies in her recent past or her future because she'd had a hysterectomy many years ago, but that she occasionally received these free formula cans randomly in the mail and had no idea why. 
    I told her it was probably from registering for baby items with her pregnancies many years ago....
