 Debra,
I credit a few amazing people with having a significant effect on my life as a mother. Niles Newton is one of? those people. I was fortunate to hear her speak when my oldest was a toddler and her way of integrating her brilliant scientific mind with her mother wisdom stole my mother-heart. I just heard Michel Odent Friday who reminded me that it was NIles Newton who first observed and named the "fetus ejection reflex", which, if we only paid attention, would have immense implications for birthing women. Anyone who has an opportunity to read her work would benefit greatly.

The wonderful Niles Newton and Michael Newton did work long ago on=20
oxytocin, with Niles writing on oxytocin as the hormone of love. Niles w=
as a=20
PhD psychologist and her husband Michael was an obstetrician. We have=20=

much educating to do of families regarding the role of oxytocin - - great=
=20
analogy, Jennifer. Wonder what oxytocin and prolactin are busy doing whe=
n=20
one is falling in love with another, including mother and baby.=20=20

The Birth and Life Bookstore, now part of Cascade, was owned and operated=
=20
by Lynn Moen for many years - - I loved being on her mailing list back in=
 the=20
1980s. After Lynn sold Birth & Life Bookstore to Cascade, I ordered =
the two=20
collections of Niles Newton's articles, one on labor & birth and the =
other=20
volume on breastfeeding. These "ancient" writings are so precious to me =
that=20
you may pry them out of my dead hands someday! The first time I read Nile=
s=20
Newton's tribute to her late husband (included in one of those two volume=
s), I=20
wept.=20=20

After a quick glance, I do not now see these collections listed with the =
Birth &=20
Life Bookstore through Cascades' website. If they no longer carry these=20=

volumes, I wonder if another publisher is doing so or if Niles and Michae=
l=20
Newton's son Edward Newton (an obstetrician in the U.S.) can provide=20
information on how to obtain these priceless volumes for anyone who is=20=

interested.=20=20
