Yes you remember correctly! Rachel Brusseau did her thesis on re-using
expressed breastmilk from a sucked bottle which had been put back in the
fridge and kept until the next feed.

Bacterial Analysis of Refrigerated Human Milk Following Infant Feeding

by, Rachel Brusseau - B.S. Biology/Chemistry, May 1998
(excerpt available on Kellymom site, at

Hope this helps.

Somewhere I seem to remember hearing over the last 30 years that mothers
who are bottle feeding expressed milk for a healthy infant can use any
remaining milk at the next feeding (unlike infant formula). Can anyone tell
me if there are any recommendations or research to support this practice?
