Just as with anything else, it's about the individual practitioner.
In my state (where Betsy lives), the pactitioners most intuitively
and clinically correct in treating all breastfeeding difficulties are
chiropractors who incorporate CST into their work. Most CST's in the
area do not work extensively with babies, but I have met a couple who
do and have observed least once a more aggressive approach than I am
used to seeing with the chiropractors (although the baby was not
upset and did fine, I would not refer there). OTOH, we also have a
group of PTs here to whom I refer for specific situations and in
working we me, they are much more knowledgeable about bf'ing than
other PTs. They are not, however, traditional in their approach and
the owner of the practice is the best medical intuitive I have ever
met.e also conducts trainings all over the world, is an originator of
Integrated Manual Therapy, is a PT professor and has been doing quite
a few hospital grand-rounds lately.

It has been very beneficial to me and to my clients for me to know
many of the manual therapists/bodyworkers in my state. Our local ILCA
affiliate has also sponsored four workshops during the past several
years for LCs, one given by a OT, another by a CST, another by the PT
referenced above and another by a chiropractor. Ten years ago, I
think I was one of two LCs in my state referring babies for
structural problems--today in CT, fortunately for babies, it is
common practice.

As to Betsy's post referencing the 3000--oh my!! I wonder how many of
those LCs or LCs-to-be who are not frequent posters (not everyone is
comfortable in a such a public forum--you did say 3000!!) and read
Betsy's post would feel like posting now!

Well, if you notice at any given time, most of the members do not
post, but there is another way to look at your facts (as there always
is)--of the frequent posters, the majority of us are furious with the
draft SOP. Further, I am wondering--do you really believe that even
if only a minority are significantly disturbed by this, that we are
irrelevant? Because what you have said is that the majority opinion
has more value than the minority opinion. Because once the idea that
bfing had any value was a minority opinion.
