Jacqui, This seems obvious, but why can't the mother delay the oral surgery
til the child self weans, if he is in the process of weaning anyway?
she says the condition is a lack or deficiency of enamel on the teeth related
to prematurity. the condition is apparently very painful and has gotten worse
the last 6 mos or so. in addition to the 4 top front extractions, he needs a
filling and 2 root canals. this was all scheduled for feb - (about 6 mos from
when he was 1st seen by a pediatric oral surgeon) at which time she thinks
it's possible he may have weaned... but they got a cancellation and fit her in
last minute for tomorrow. she was considering postponing it until he weaned but
she says it has become so painful for him that he is beginning to lose weight.
the input that i got and that she also independently obtained seems to
indicate she can nurse, tho - so hopefully all will not be lost! thanks for your
response!
ps - i passed on the wic suggestion and she was going to call them yesterday,
thanks for that tidibit! (she lives in new orleans, la now and i am in
michigan).
