I have been working with a mother of a 5 week old who stopped bf after 1 1/2
weeks because she he was nursing every 2 - 2 1/2 hours and she was not
getting enough sleep. Her baby now has an ear infection, upper respiratory
infection, and sleeps all day and is up all night.  She also cannot afford
the formula and wants to start breastfeeding again. She was put on BC pills
(estrogen & progesterone) becauseshe is still bleeding at 5 weeks.

I have suggested that she talk to her OB about changing  BC to a
non-hormonal method or a progesterone only pill.  I have also suggested a
hospital grade pump and lots of sucking at the breast. Baby needs to suck a
lot so I suggested she toss the pacifier and let him do all his sucking at
her breast.

I have not had a lot of experience in this area. Any suggestions or impasses
I should be aware of?  Has anyone had experience with this and can give me
some advice?
