At the strangest time, it suddenly popped into my head that we always get
ticks detached from us by putting a big glob of vaseline on them. We were
told that the vaseline suffocates them - ie, shuts off their air!, so they
let go. I have always thought that the nipples need to breathe
(and please don't expect me to add "just like the poor, poor ticks"....!)
