When I questioned a FTT diagnosis on the Peds floor in my hospital, because it just seemed to be "slow weight gain" to me, I was told it's an insurance thing. There is no reimbursement for "slow weight gain" but there is for "FTT". Usually, there are feeding issues I need to assist mom with, so I observe, educate & document.
