This is written about children with Down Syndrome but I believe it is
instructive for the general population as well. The author describes
how the low tone, high palate, large tongue, habitual open mouth,
frequent upper respiratory infections, and mild hearing loss usually
associated with Down Syndrome may be the result of early feeding
methods rather than innate characteristics of this syndrome. I think
her description of what happens during bottle feeding with these
children could applied beyond the DS population.
