Linda asked for the lawyers to jump in. Actually the one that really blew
me away was #6 which has nothing to do with breastfeeding but anabolic
steriods. Steriods are a controlled dangerous substance, and a child who
takes them, or a coach who gives them out will face disciplinary
consequences including expulsion and dismissal. Anabolic steriods are one
of the substances students may face drug testing for. How could any HCP
in this day and age not tell an athlete of their dangers!?

As to the breastfeeding related ones, esp. 3 & 4, I have given my opinion
before and I know its not a popular one esp. with the HCPs (whom I know
face a lot of unwarranted med. malpractice cases) but I think a few
sucessful publicized BF malpractice cases will help the cause of
breastfeeding. (Just like the negative cases involving dehydration harmed
breastfeeding.) Don't beat me up-it's just my opinion. I know there are
many dedicated HCPs on this list, but the more stories I read about the
bad ones, the more dismayed I become.

Melissa Kirsch, JD, LLLL (speaking in the JD capacity) who just had a
call from a mother who was told to pump and dump for 1 week b/c of
same-day knee surgery.
